Well Man Clinic

Cardiovascular health

Know your heart risk, and lower it early.

What it is

Heart and circulation problems often build silently for years. Blood pressure creeps up, cholesterol particles collect in artery walls, and inflammation and blood sugar problems add to the load.

By the time symptoms appear, the process is well under way. The good news is that most of the drivers can be measured, and many respond well to changes in diet, movement, sleep and stress.

Is this you?

  • Rising blood pressure readings
  • High or borderline cholesterol
  • A family history of heart attack or stroke
  • Breathlessness or chest tightness on exertion
  • Erection problems, often an early sign of blood vessel health

Common root causes

We look at all three corners of the body–mind–brain triangle.

Body

Insulin resistance, weight around the middle, low-grade inflammation and inherited cholesterol patterns such as high lipoprotein(a).

Mind

Long-term stress, and habits such as smoking, alcohol and inactivity.

Brain

A stress system stuck in overdrive, raising heart rate and blood pressure, and poor sleep.

How we assess it

Blood pressure, body composition, waist-to-height ratio and an advanced cardiovascular blood panel, alongside a full health history and lifestyle review.

Available in clinic in Llandudno, or remotely by video with home or partner-site blood tests.

Key lab tests

The tests most often useful for cardiovascular health. Every test includes a practitioner review of your results.

Lipid profile with ApoB

What it measures
Your cholesterol and the number of particles that carry it into artery walls.
Why it matters
ApoB gives a clearer picture of risk than total cholesterol alone.

Lipoprotein(a)

What it measures
An inherited type of cholesterol particle.
Why it matters
High levels raise heart risk regardless of lifestyle, and it only needs testing once.

hs-CRP

What it measures
A sensitive marker of low-grade inflammation.
Why it matters
Inflammation plays a part in artery damage.
